Ms. Kathleen Ellen Schoder is Selected for Prestigious Honor Society at Colgate University

2012 Mar 15

Ms. Kathleen Ellen Schoder, a member of the Class of 2013 at Colgate University, is among 26 rising seniors to be selected for membership in the university's Konosioni Senior Honor Society.

Schoder is a resident of La Grange and the daughter of Mr. Thomas B. Schoder and Mrs. Mari W. Schoder.

The Konosioni Senior Honor Society is one of the most admired groups on campus, founded on the principles of leadership, service to the community, and preservation of Colgate tradition. Every year, the graduating senior members choose the next 13 men and 13 women student leaders who will carry on the Konosioni legacy.

Konosioni takes its name from a 16th-century peace council formed by the chiefs of the Onondaga and Mohawk Indian nations. The group was formed in 1934, when two Colgate organizations -Skull and Scroll, founded in 1908 for "the guardianship and promotion of the fair name of the college," and Gorgon's Head, a rival founded in 1913 "to encourage the growth of manly character, scholarship, and the College spirit" - were joined together.

Colgate University is a highly selective liberal arts institution distinguished by the dedication of its 272 full-time faculty-scholars, and its commitment to undergraduate research, off-campus study programs, and residential education. Colgate offers 52 majors to a diverse student body of 2,900 undergraduate students, and supports 25 Division I athletic teams. The university's 515-acre campus in rural central New York is renowned for its beauty and for the important role it plays in the student experience.
