Ridgefield High School Graduate Sarah Shin Conducts Undergraduate Research at Colgate University

Ridgefield High School graduate Sarah Shin, of New York, NY, and a member of the Colgate Class of 2014, is one of about 150 Colgate University students conducting serious research on and off campus this summer as a paid research fellow.

Shin is conducting research in Tracing micro cultural boundaries: Digitization of local land maps of Matsukawa Village, Japan / Elucidating ecosystem carbon dynamics in permafrost ecosystems of northeast Siberia, with the guidance of Geography; Asian Studies Professor Michael Loranty Daisaku Yamamoto.

Summer fellowships at Colgate allow students to work closely with faculty for eight to ten weeks on projects of common interest, and across disciplines, from biology and neuroscience to geology and sociology, to name a few.
