Alexandra Newlon, from West Dennis, MA has been named as a Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship winner for spring 2019. A junior at Colgate University, Newlon majors in Applied Mathematics. During her Gilman semester, she plans to travel to Hungary on the Budapest Semester in Mathematics program, to study cryptography and game theory.

Shamarcus Doty, from Lexington, Miss., has been named as a Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship winner for spring 2019. A junior at Colgate University, Doty majors in Africana and Latin American Studies, with an emphasis on African Studies. During his Gilman semester, he plans to take part in Colgate's study group to Jamaica to research diverse cultures of the black diaspora.
